v0.2 is out, with small, but nevertheless great changes! - Fixed crash on exit - I'm not sure WTF I did, but it seems to be running more than 2x faster! At first it's slow but after some seconds it gets fast. Very weird. Also levels take a little longer to load and waterfalls don't animate As always get it from tinnus.gp32z.com/

For some reason it only reaches 14 FPS on my Zire72. Although I have to admit I am running it from a SD card. There also seems to be some problem with level backgrounds. The first levels have all kinds of colours in the background that don't belong there. I know this also happens when you edit a level's background modifier. And it looks like it assumes that white is transparent. Jazz's eyes are see-through for example.
Was this based of the latest version of OpenJazz? (January 30th)
Well done though. Great job, I can't wait until the next version.

This was based off January 15 (since that was the one available at the time ) but next one will be based on Jan 30, and well merged with the core code, so for next versions it will only need a recompile to reflect the next official OpenJazz updates.

wow, this is very nice, I used to play this game on my pc all the time! Thanks, it runs quite well on my T3 in portrait mode! The Waterfalls do animate here, but I indeed can't jump high enough on some levels (maybe I need to set lightspeed to boost the device). Landscape mode also doesn't work, I get a red screen when entering a level (the menu's aren't visible too).
Thanks again!
ps. Sometimes it crashes at the start (also after a softreset)

Am I being too impatient when I'm asking when the next release will be?

Maybe. But the deal is I'm trying to port the newest version and it introduced a bug which I'm trying to find...

I'm curious what the bug is. Did you ask Toxic Bunny about what could cause it yet?

Nope. I'm gonna do a diff in all files against the old version to see what changed. To be honest, I didn't really code in the past week (too busy) but I should release some neat stuff this one

AAAAAAAAAAAARGH NO I have a crash everytime I run the file on my Tungsten E2. I'm running Palm os 5.2. Is this a problem? Apart from that My device should be up to the task.
I'm an old fan of Jazz having played it in my youth and having bought the CD in 1995 (OMG 11 years ago). I would just LOVE this program to work and not to have to play it using DOSBOX on my PC.
Is there anything I can do? All replys appreciated.
AJ

Try cleaning up your PDA. It may not have enough RAM left. Or other unstable programs could make it crash. Also try giving your Palm a soft reset just before you start it.

Feel free to add a link to the binaries. I won't release the current sources though because they aren't good... I'll release them for 0.3 since I'm changing lots of stuff.
Also, I don't see the need of putting this port in that page. Isn't it about UNCOMPLETED work?
OpenJazz doesn't need anyone else; when I finish adding music that will be it. The core though, is far from complete but that is with the official OpenJazz distribution, not the Palm OS port.
